Objective

Of Forest Academy

The Revenue and forest Department of State of Maharashtra has set some defined purposes for Chandrapur Forest Academy

1. Grade 'A' and 'B' officers of Maharashtra Forest Services, those selected from Maharashtra Public Service Commission, will be trained with long-term professional training for forest services.
2. To carry out Environment Impact Analysis.
3. Organizing training programs for representatives of local governing bodies and residents of the villages having forest rights.
4. Training and orientation of People's Representatives, from Members of Parliament to members of Gram Panchayat.
5. Orientation and training sessions for journalists, non-government organizations, advocates, judges, and representatives of environmental organizations.
6. To create skilled labor for forest conservation and management as well as wildlife management, implementing different courses like certification, degree, and diplomas.
 
7. To impart Diploma to Post Graduation and Doctoral Research programs in the field of Forest, Wildlife, Environment, and Climate Change.
8. Officers and other employees from other departments with the Public Works Department, Revenue, and Police will be trained on subjects like biodiversity, forest conservation, environment, and wildlife management..
9. To conduct academic and research programs in the subject of forensic science in wildlife conservation.
10. To carry out academic, research, and development in the field of Wood Anatomy.
11. To carry out academic, research, and development programs in the field of biodiversity.
12. To implement awareness, training, and orientation programs with the coordination of non-governmental institutes, joint forest management committees, and environment lovers.

As per the mandate prescribed by Forest and revenue department, Government of Maharashtra, the functions of Chandrapur Forest Academy are formulated into four disciplines. These are

Status of the Academy

The Government of Maharashtra has awarded Academic and Financial autonomy. Various governing bodies and authorities has been constituted, i.e. Board of Governance, Executive Committee, Academic Council, Subject Committees, Board of Examination and Finance and Audit Committees.
